Registration Procedures for New Scouts


Boy Scouting is available to boys who have achieved one of the following;

- Earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts and is at least 10 years old.

- Have completed the fifth grade

- Are a boy 11-17 years old.

Joining requirements

- Submit a completed Boy Scout Application signed by your parent or guardian.
- Submit a Health History form signed by your parent or guardian.
- Pay your troop registration fee.
- Understand and agree to live by the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout Motto, Scout Slogan and the Outdoor Code.
- With your partner or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamplet How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse and Drug Abuse.



Registration Procedures for Adults

-Complete the BSA Youth Protection Training Online at www.danbeard.org. There is no cost for this training. On the site choose "Training" from the left margin. Next choose the "Youth Protection for Cub and Boy Scout Adult Leaders" link from under "Supplemental Training - Safe Scouting". Upon completion, you'll be able to print out a "successful completion document" to prove you've finished the training. This document needs to be submitted with the BSA Adult Registration Form (Please note this training is required every two years).

- Complete the Cincinnati Diocese Youth Protection Training. Contact the St. Max Church office staff at 777-4322 for the next available training. This free one evening class  is offered at various locations throughout the diocese. At the completion of the class, you'll receive a "successful completion document" to prove you've finished the training. This document needs to be submitted with the BSA Adult Registration Form.

- Complete the BCII/FBI finger printing / background check process at St. Max Church. Contact the church office staff at 777-4322 for the latest schedule of available times and dates.

- Submit a completed BSA Adult Registration Form to the Scoutmaster or Troop Committee Chair. (All training documentation is to be submitted at this time.)

- Complete a Health History Form and submit to the Scoutmaster or Troop Committee Chair.
